Authoritarians can do lots of good in short order if they have ambition and liberal sensibilities. But then they die, their nitwit kid or power-craving successor takes the wheel, and so much for greatness.

Democracy demands majority rule, precisely so you don't have to have everyone rally around, because otherwise we'd have to have a world war every few decades to get any real change done.

Unfortunately in the US, our Senate seems enamored of what amounts to minority veto power. It was kind of a bait-and-switch deal on approving the Constitution.

We'll get there.

What we really need, I think (because the current UN is great for statistics and humanitarian handouts, but not much else), is a kind of UN but for democratic nations only. Power of the dems! One that has some enforcement power.

Thanks for the read!
