Faith derives from lack of proof. It’s all about lack of proof. (If you have proof, what need of faith?)

And faith in, say, ‘God version x’ precludes belief in any other version because that would undermine faith in ‘version x’. It’s a precedent thing. Once you set the precedent of changing faith, you’ve told yourself that faith can be wrong. And that’s faithless.

The bigger question is why ‘believe’ at all? Why believe regardless of proof?

Belief grants ‘a reason’ to all events and circumstances. It’s God’s will!

Science offers explanations, not reasons. Reasons answer the question ‘why.’ ‘Why does water turn to steam at 100 degrees C, Daddy?’ For the believer: ‘Uh…God!’

And embodied in the reason God provides for all things and events lies ‘meaning.’ There is thus meaning to the believer’s life.

My (non-believer’s) take. Thanks for the read!
