So, let me get this straight. Cities and towns elect mayors and city councils by direct election. Counties elect supervisors and sheriffs and district attorneys by direct election. States elect state representatives, state senators, federal representatives, federal senators, state governors, and many other state officials by direct election. But the US senate represents states and the US president is elected by electors.

So, two instances out of....oh, a mere tens of thousands, during every election cycle, and the US isn't a democracy?

Did I get it straight?

Go ahead and tap the sign. Tell me how deluded I am. But there are solutions to the issues you describe.

The US constitution can be amended. There are legislative solutions and stopgaps in the works. If it's not happening fast enough for some of us, well, welcome to how the world works. But those who would pull out their guns to change it more quickly will wildly succeed--in contributing to destroying democracy.

Take care there in Sri Lanka! I'll take care here in the US.
