Sorry, but I’m confused!

'Anti-racism,' according to Wikipedia, is 'a range of ideas and political actions which are meant to counter racial prejudice.'

But that doesn’t seem to be how you are using the term.

I’m also confused because for a self-described 'Universalist,' you have a real penchant for using group labels. 'Black,' 'white,' 'European-American Jews,' ‘wealthy white Americans,' ‘Jewish Americans,’ ‘white Americans,’ ‘Anglicans,' 'Presbyterians,' ‘conservative Christians,' 'Jews,' ‘conservative Muslims,' all are labeled in your post. Indeed, remove the identifiers and only 72 original words remain!

I appreciate your sentiments, I think! But In the use of all those labels aren’t you to a degree legitimizing identity politics?

The history of humanity is scarred with self-inflicted, ‘us v. them’ wounds. Tribe v. tribe, race v. race, religion v. religion, it’s almost as if there is an actual gene (not suggesting there is!) more dominant in some than in others, that insists that those who don’t look, or sound, or dress, or act ‘right,’ are indeed wrong.

Or maybe it’s just the common reaction of many of us (albeit, taken to an extreme) of taking responsibility for ourselves when we succeed, and placing that same responsibility upon others when we fail.

Thanks for the read!
