This reminds me of a debate around the dinner table during my childhood. We were moving to a new state, and mom said we needed to find a home to live in. Dad said, no, we needed to find a house to live in.

Lively debate ensued!

If we define religion in terms of meaning, and that's what a home 'is,' and science in terms of structure, and that's what a house is, is there a difference?

Really, there is not (if one lives in a house!).

In terms of human experience (as opposed to abstract conjecture), meaning and structure merge. Both are products of the other. A structure of no meaning is not a 'house.' And meaning with no structure is meaningless.

I appreciate the rare essays, like yours, that seek to erase boundaries rather than draw them.

Thanks for the read!
