Why not a hybrid view?

I wholly agree consciousness is a conceptual problem. I think the conceptual leap we must take, however, is to understand that awareness ‘forms’ substance as much as substance ‘forms’ awareness. They are flip sides of the same coin.

Awareness, more specifically, exists as changing substance, i.e., interactions. An interaction exists as awareness. Not an awareness ‘of ‘the interaction,’ necessarily, but just generic awareness. Without awareness there is no interaction. It exists as a communication.

If you—or anyone or anything that you know or could know—is unaware that you passed by a long-lost friend on the street the other day, did you?

Our conception of objective reality tells us that we might have. But that is an assumption. The irony of objective reality is that lacking the conception that ‘reality’ exists independently of any conception of it…it doesn’t.

Thanks for the read!
